Tuesday Nov 11, 2025
Tuesday Nov 11, 2025
On this episode of the Hunting Connection Podcast, I’m joined by Joe Wildman, founder of Ridgewalker Expeditions.
Joe’s a man whose life has been defined by adventure. A retired lawyer and former helicopter pilot, he traded boardrooms and cockpits for the wild — spending over 30 years travelling the world in pursuit of epic hunts and expeditions. From red stags in Europe to lion and buffalo in Africa, to heavy fish in the bluewater of the Coral Sea, Joe’s lived the kind of stories most hunters only dream about.
Through Ridgewalker Expeditions, Joe now shares that lifetime of experience with others — offering world-class hunting, spearfishing, and wildlife photography adventures across the globe. Every trip is tailored to the individual, whether you’re after a rugged challenge deep in the wilderness or a five-star experience in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations.
Driven by integrity, competence, and a passion for exploration, Joe’s mission is simple — to craft unforgettable adventures and help others write their own story of the wild.

In this episode, I’m joined by Jakob from Choo-roo. I first discovered Jakob through a video he shared about how the South Australian bowhunting ban has impacted him. He’s not your typical hunter — coming from a background in homesteading, foraging, home brewing and a bit of rabbit hunting with a bow, I knew I had to get him on for a chat.
We had an awesome conversation where I got to learn more about Jakob’s journey, how Choo-roo came to life, how that evolved into hot sauce making, and his growing presence on social media.

The Journeyman Way: Hunting, Bushcraft & the Outdoor Life with Matty White
Tuesday Aug 19, 2025
Tuesday Aug 19, 2025
In this episode of the Hunting Connection Podcast, I’m joined by Matty White from The Journeyman Way—a passionate outdoorsman whose journey into bowhunting and fly fishing has deep roots in a unique upbringing. Matty grew up on a deer farm, giving him early hands-on experience with animal behaviour, seasonal patterns, and the kind of awareness in nature that most hunters spend a lifetime developing.
We dive into how that background laid the foundation for his skills in the bush, especially when it comes to tracking, stalking, and understanding wildlife movement. Matty shares how he got into bowhunting and fly fishing, what keeps him drawn to the challenge and discipline of both, and how these pursuits offer more than just a harvest—they’re a way to connect deeply with the land.
But Matty’s outdoor journey doesn’t stop there. He’s also passionate about dog training, photography, bushcraft, and woodcrafting. We chat about how spending time in the bush, learning to work with your hands, and mastering the basics of survival and self-reliance can be just as rewarding as a successful hunt. Whether it’s carving a tool, building a campfire shelter, or simply slowing down and observing the world around him, Matty brings a thoughtful and grounded approach to the outdoors.
This episode is full of insight, stories, and shared appreciation for the lifestyle we love. Whether you’re into hunting, fishing, bushcraft, dogs, or just hearing from someone who’s walking the walk—this one’s worth a listen. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the yarn!

Tuesday Aug 05, 2025
Tuesday Aug 05, 2025
In this episode of the Hunting Connection Podcast, I’m joined by Ian Hurley—better known as Hurls—from the Hunters Campfire Podcast!
We kick things off by diving into Hurls’ early connection with the outdoors, starting with solo backpacking adventures during his early teens. From there, he caught the hunting bug while chasing red deer alongside his uncle, which sparked a lifelong passion. After moving to Australia, that passion only grew stronger—especially once he joined the Australian Deer Association (ADA), where he found a like-minded community and really honed his skills as a deer stalker.
We also talk about how the Hunters Campfire Podcast came to be, with Hurls teaming up with Mark and Jono to share hunting stories, knowledge, and conversations from across the country.
